For over 50 years, Pam Parsons has lovingly visited, maintained, and decorated these cottages. They have held a special place in her heart since the day her father, Raymond Essington Parsons, purchased the land—land that would later inspire his beautiful and timeless paintings.
Raymond Essington Parsons spent each summer with his family at his beloved South Chatham cottages, which he affectionately named Holiday Shores. A leading landscape painter of Cape Cod, Parsons possessed an intimate understanding of the Cape’s unique light, atmosphere, and ever-changing moods—qualities he masterfully translated onto canvas. Trained under Vesper George at the renowned Vesper George School of Art in Boston, Parsons also enjoyed a distinguished career as one of Boston’s foremost commercial artists and illustrators. Over time, he devoted himself fully to his true passion: landscape painting. With great sensitivity, he captured the subtle interplay of land, sea, and sky, creating works that have traveled across the United States, Canada, and Europe, serving as lasting and cherished reminders of the timeless beauty of

Mr. Parsons was represented in many local exhibitions and critics praised his renderings of Cape scenes which capture the subtle atmosphere. “He painted with vigor and feeling, using the whole emotional sweep of the land, sea, and sky to make his pictures living scenes, filled with the action of sunshine, wind, storm, and all the various and exciting moods of nature”…Lance Horner
There are many of his original paintings in the cottages, as well as the mystical feeling of peace and pleasure for you to enjoy, just as Ray Parsons did.
